He made this disclosure at an interactive session with Super Eagle platform.
He noted that some of the professional players are injured, while some are just recovering with the hope that they will be available for selection for the qualifying matches.
Nigeria will play Benin Republic and Lesotho in March in the Nation’s Cup qualifier.
When asked if he’s impressed with his players, he stated he’s impressed with their performance as many of them play under harsh weather with lots of matches, which could affect their fitness and performances.
On the Super Eagle’s captain, Ahmed Musa, signing for West Bromwich Albion, he said he hope he can sign so as to come back to the fitness and rhythm of the matches.
About Odion Ighalo, who just moved to the Saudi League, if he’s thinking of recalling him to the squad, he said: ” I’m happy that he made a good contract, you know he’s more than thirty already. He’s to think about his time after football, he’s still very fit, and he’s playing regularly in his new club, Al-Shabab, a big club in Saudi Arabia.
“There’s no reason not to take him in the Super Eagle if he’s doing well, and Ahmed Musa was also in Arabia and he played with us. So, there’s no problem but the question is, does he want to come back?
“We hope so because he’s an experience player, we have a young team and he can be useful to his partners, strikers, to help them to develop and to come back to score goals with us. Of course, We’re waiting for that but first he has to play now.”
Rohr, who expressed happiness that Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) is back and that matches can be watched everywhere, stated that local players can be scouted for selection into the Super Eagle.
On the upcoming qualifying matches, he said that he hope to have all players fit for the games, and that with one more point to qualify, he hope the team would grab the point in Benin despite being a good side. He continued that it’ll be achievable for team if they have good preparations and travel plans.
Rohr said that any player that wants to switch nationality to Nigeria and be available for Super Eagle’s selection, should do so appropriately.
He said only the best players would be taken into the squad as the team already have the best players, which will make it difficult to bring in new players with only few training for the team.
Rohr said that he hopes to see the fans in the stadium to cheer up the boys, though he understands the situation in the country and the disappointment they have faced from his boys, but promises that the boys will fight to erase the disappointment as it’s not the same football without them.
