Paris Saint German (PSG) has appointed Mauricio Pochettino as their new Manager. Pochettino, who is 48 years was a former manager at Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur both in the English Premier League. Information has it that he turned offers from many European top clubs before accepting to join PSG.
Pochettino, who played for PSG between 2001 and 2003, was sacked by Spurs in November 2019 and will now succeeding Thomas Tuchel, who was sacked by the club recently. Pocttino has signed a deal till 30th June, 2022 for undisclosed fee with the option for an extra year.
PSG are currently third in Ligue 1 table and will face Barcelona in the Champions League round 16 n February and March.
The Argentine will take his first PSG training session on Sunday following the French league’s winter break.
According to Pochettino, he said he was happy and honoured to take on the role and that the club has always held a special place in his heart
He continued that he has returned to the club today with a lot of ambition and humility, and he’s eager to work with some of the world’s most talented players.
He stated that the team has fantastic potential and that he and his staff will do everything they can to get the best for Paris Saint Germain in all competitions. “We will also do our utmost to give our team the combative and attacking playing identity that Parisian fans have always loved.”
