The famous American music star, Kanye West, has filed a document in the court asking the judge to legally change his name.
The music icon, who is dubbed for his third Donda listening party, has approached a court for the legal change of his name from Kanye West to YE.
Kanye West has gone by many names ever since becoming a famous artist, and now wants to be officially known as YE.
According to E! News, the rapper filed a request to change his name from Kanye Omari West to just “Ye” as obtained from court documents of August 11 citing personal reasons.
The hip-pop star first gave himself the nickname back in 2018, ahead of an appearance on Saturday Night Live show, when he tweeted: “The being formally known as Kanye West…I am YE.”
At the time, in an interview he said that the moniker held a deeper spiritual meaning.
“I believe ‘ye’ is the most commonly used word in the Bible, and in the Bible, it means ‘you.’ So, I’m you, I’m us, it’s us. It went from Kanye, which means the only one, to just Ye — just being a reflection of our good, our bad, our confusion, everything. The album is more of a reflection of who we are,” he said.
The album Ye came out months before his scheduled sharing of the Yahndi album, but was later shelved, while Kanye released ‘Jesus Is King’ in October 2019.
His teeming fans are still awaiting the release of his latest work, ‘Donda’, which was initially scheduled for release on July 23.
Kanye has been clever with the release of ‘Donda’, as he opted for hosting of listening parties across United States instead of releasing the album on streaming platforms.
He has so far hosted two listening parties in Atlanta and Georgia, and is scheduled to hold his third gathering in his hometown of Chicago on 26th August.
Chicago newscaster, Sarah Jindra, in her tweet said that the rapper is having his team build a life-size replica of his childhood home inside the Soldier Field stadium where he’s scheduled to perform.
From all indications, ‘Donda’ will be officially released on Friday, 27th August, for public enjoyment.
