Jose Mourinho Has Been Sacked By Tottenham Hotspur

Jose Mourinho has been sacked by Tottenham Hotspur as their head coach.

The club announced on Monday morning that Mourinho and his coaching staff, Joao Sacramento, Nuno Santos, Carlos Lalin and Giovanni Cerra, have been relieved of their duties.

The chairman of the club, Daniel Levy, said: “Jose and his coaching staff have been with us through some of our most challenging times as a club.

“Jose is a true professional who showed enormous resilience during the pandemic. On a personal level I have enjoyed working with him and regret that things have not worked out as we both had envisaged. He will always be welcome here and we should like to thank him and his coaching staff for their contribution.”

“Ryan Mason will take First Team training today and a further update will follow in due course,” he added.

The sack is coming in less than a week to the Carabao Cup final against Manchester City on Sunday.

Mourinho joined the club in November 2019, following the sack of Mauricio Pochettino, signed a deal until the end of the 2023 season.

In his first campaign with the club, Mourinho took Tottenham from 14th position in the Premier League table to finish sixth, thereby securing Europa League qualification, but were knocked out of the 2019-20 Champions League competition at the last-16 stage by RB Leipzig.

The club crashed out of 2020-21 season’s Europa League at the last-16 stage following defeat to Dinamo Zagreb.

As Mourinho leaves the club, the club is seventh in the table, and five points off the Champions League places.

Mourinho had however criticised his players in recent weeks, by accusing major players of hiding in their defeat to Arsenal.

He said: “No intensity, no pressing. In terms of creating attacking football, some important players were hiding. In the second half we only had to improve which we did.

When Mourinho was asked, after a draw against Newcastle, about Tottenham’s tendency to allow points slip from winning positions, he replied: “Same coach, different players”.

His statement after the Newcastle game: “It was not a problem of fight, it was not a problem of attitude, the players wanted to win but I have to be honest and say I saw things on the pitch, not in terms of attitude but in terms of profile, vision, balance, which belongs to the top players, I didn’t see in every position.”

Mourinho had recently been dodging questions from the media about his side’s weakness.

On his side continuing tendency to drop points, Mourinho said: “That’s what I’m not ready to discuss with you. I think it has to do with some of our qualities as a team, but I’m not ready to discuss with you.”

When pressed on when he would be willing to discuss this matter, Mourinho said “maybe never”.

Mourinho was in charge of the club for only 17 months.

Mourinho Snubs Cristiano Ronaldo Picks Messi In His Top Three Players In History

José Mourinho has subbed Cristiano Ronaldo and choose Messi above him in his opinion about best players in the history of football.

José Mourinho said: “For me the top three players in history are Messi, Pelé and Maradona.”

Despite being from the same country with Cristiano Ronaldo and having been his manager at Real Madrid, Mourinho still believes that Ronaldo is not worth to be among his best three in the world of football.

Mourinho, known for his controversial attitude and boastful comments, has criticised Ronaldo at different in his career. He said this about Ronaldo when he was the manager at Real Madrid: “I had only one problem with him, very simple, very basic, which was when a coach criticises a player from a tactical viewpoint trying to improve what, in my view, could have been improved.

At that moment, he didn’t take it very well because maybe he thinks he knows everything and the coach cannot help him develop further.”

Mourinho has at a time praised Ronaldo, where he said: “I remember the good and the not so good. I remember he is a goal machine, he helped me to become a champion, to win the cup and the Super Cup.

“He probably also helped him and each of us to make history in winning the league with 100 points against the best Barcelona side in history.

“Cristiano gives me great memories and I wish him all the best in his career, for his country and his club.”

Mourinho added: “Ronaldo’s an incredible player. It’s like Zinedine Zidane for the French, there will be no other. He is incredible, he’s a goalscoring machine.

“Coaching him was the highlight of my career. He’s the most professional player I’ve ever met. A coach and a player may have their differences at a given time, but it ends there.”

However, Ronaldo on his part had praised Mourinho and ranked above Ferguson and said he can still work with Mourinho, he said: “I would put him at the top, I always say that.”

“Work with Mourinho again? Why not?” he said.

UFC 258: Kamaru Usman Knock-outs The Brazilian, Gilbert Burns, To Retains The Welterweight Title

Kamaru Usman has retained his UFC welterweight title with a third round knockout of Gilbert Burns at the UFC 258 fight.

The Nigerian nightmare scored an electric jab to put the Brazilian on his back in the third round, and started raining down shots on him.

It took Herb Dean only a matter of time to step in and call the fight off.

Usman has quietly solidified himself as one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world and he’s in the discussion for one of the best ever at 170lbs.

Georges St-Pierre is generally regarded as the greatest of all-time in that weight class.

Usman’s 13th consecutive win at welterweight last night, means that he has now broken Rush’s record for most wins in a row at 170lbs.

He’s now on tie with recently retired Khabib Nurmagomedov’s record for the second-most wins in a row, and he’s now three wins away from being on tie with Anderson Silva’s record of 16 straight wins.

Usman is now on record of 18-1 overall and 13-0 in the UFC.

Burns gave Usman his best shot in the first round as Usman was visibly hurt by it, but he did what champions do and gritted it out.

At the end of the contest, Burns was left devastated. The former teammate of Usman was almost inconsolable on the mat as he burst into tears knowing he had come up short in the biggest fight of his life to date.

The welterweight division is now in an interesting state. Usman has defeated all of the immediate contenders – Burns, Colby Covington, Jorge Masvidal and Leon Edwards.

However, both Masvidal and Edwards aren’t as clear cut. Masvidal was a fight taken on six days notice and Gamebred is desperate for a shot with a full camp.

When Usman defeated Edwards, it was all the way back at the tail-end of 2015 and Edwards has won eight straight fights.

Usman has made it clear he wants a rematch with Masvidal.

The boots have been displayed at the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya in Barcelona, where it will remain for a month before being autioned off for charity.

“We hope the auction in April will increase knowledge of this great cause.”

Rohr Reveals Plans For AFCON 2021 Qualifying Matches

The Nigerian Super Eagle’s Head Coach, Gernot Rohr, has revealed his plans for the AFCON 2021 final lap qualifying matches.

He made this disclosure at an interactive session with Super Eagle platform.

He noted that some of the professional players are injured, while some are just recovering with the hope that they will be available for selection for the qualifying matches.

Nigeria will play Benin Republic and Lesotho in March in the Nation’s Cup qualifier.

When asked if he’s impressed with his players, he stated he’s impressed with their performance as many of them play under harsh weather with lots of matches, which could affect their fitness and performances.

On the Super Eagle’s captain, Ahmed Musa, signing for West Bromwich Albion, he said he hope he can sign so as to come back to the fitness and rhythm of the matches.

About Odion Ighalo, who just moved to the Saudi League, if he’s thinking of recalling him to the squad, he said: ” I’m happy that he made a good contract, you know he’s more than thirty already. He’s to think about his time after football, he’s still very fit, and he’s playing regularly in his new club, Al-Shabab, a big club in Saudi Arabia.

“There’s no reason not to take him in the Super Eagle if he’s doing well, and Ahmed Musa was also in Arabia and he played with us. So, there’s no problem but the question is, does he want to come back?

“We hope so because he’s an experience player, we have a young team and he can be useful to his partners, strikers, to help them to develop and to come back to score goals with us. Of course, We’re waiting for that but first he has to play now.”

Rohr, who expressed happiness that Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) is back and that matches can be watched everywhere, stated that local players can be scouted for selection into the Super Eagle.

On the upcoming qualifying matches, he said that he hope to have all players fit for the games, and that with one more point to qualify, he hope the team would grab the point in Benin despite being a good side. He continued that it’ll be achievable for team if they have good preparations and travel plans.

Rohr said that any player that wants to switch nationality to Nigeria and be available for Super Eagle’s selection, should do so appropriately.

He said only the best players would be taken into the squad as the team already have the best players, which will make it difficult to bring in new players with only few training for the team.

Rohr said that he hopes to see the fans in the stadium to cheer up the boys, though he understands the situation in the country and the disappointment they have faced from his boys, but promises that the boys will fight to erase the disappointment as it’s not the same football without them.

Antonio Rudiger Subject Of Racial Abuse After Being Wrongly Blamed For The Sack Of Lampard

Antonio Rudiger has described those calling him names for having hand in the sack of Frank Lampard as nonsense.

Rudiger explained that he has been a subject of abuse on the social media just for the wrong accusation about the sack of Lampard as Chelsea manager..

He told chelsea club website: “I have been in the club into my fourth season and I have had four different coaches, with Tuchel now.

“And it was never talked about when Sarri left the club or when Conte left the club that players were involved or something like this.

“My conscience is clear. I know who I am and I know I did not do all that nonsense that came out and for me in my head, I am very free.

“I am open for every new coach, as I was opened also for Mr Lampard.

“I cannot control people’s emotions but people should be human beings. Me, I didn’t post anything but the racial abuse was immense.

“This makes me stronger because I know who I am, I can look in the mirror and I can smile. I know I didn’t do anything so for me this is forgotten.

“For me in life it is very important I can look in the mirror, I see myself, I know who I am.

“Of course it hurts but in this case I just block it out because I know I didn’t do anything.”

Rudiger, who’s back in the squad, has played in every game led by the new boss Thomas Tuchel.

Sheffield United will host the Blues on Sunday night against a backdrop of escalating online racism in English football.

And there have been calls for social media companies to do more to stamp out racial abuse before it can occur.

Rudiger expressed that nothing will change until the abuse have financial implications on those in power.

He added: “To be very honest I don’t know about all these social media things but I think the more people who make accounts, they make money off it.

“So me personally, I think they don’t really care because as you know, this money has power so the rest doesn’t matter, so it is hard to tell if people will make a change on that.

“I feel sorry for that but I feel more sorry for people who are not strong enough so it really affects them.

Of course it affects me in a way too but it is just in a way that makes me think that people are not normal, people I am sorry to say are just stupid.”

Amaju Pinnick Declares Interest In Patrice Motsepe For CAF Presidency

President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Mr Amaju Pinnick, has spoken his mind about Africa football.

Pinnick who spoke with BBC interviewer, Oluwashina, said that the problems affecting the image of Africa football is integrity. He continued that with integrity no one would talk about nepotism, religious bigotry, racism and ethnicity, as integrity is everything.

Integrity encapsulates everything, once you have integrity every other factor is secondary,” he said.

He added: “If you integrity, you will look at ethnicity, if you integrity, you will look at linguistic difference, if you integrity, you will look at religious bigotry. Integrity means 100%.”

On the upcoming Confederation African Football (CAF) election to be held on 12th March in Rabat in Morocco, and his advise for the contestants.

Pinnick said that the contestants should think of Africa, which means that they should be focused on the change they can bring to the continent football in terms of development and the future of African football.

CAF had already shortlisted four candidates for the post of the president, where the incumbent president of CAF, Ahmad Ahmad, was declared ineligible due to his five-year suspension by FIFA.

The candidates that will be vying for the CAF presidency are the president of the Senegalese Football Federation, Augustin Senghor, and former president of the Ivorian Football Federation, Jacques Anouma.

Others in the contest are Ahmed Yahya, president of the Mauritanian Football Federation, and South African billionaire Patrice Motsepe who is the president of the Mamelodi Sundowns club, and mining magnate whose candidacy was approved and supported by the South Africa Football Association (SAFA).

Assessing the contestants, Pinnick said: ” Let’s look at his pedigree, what has he done before in football?

Augustin Senghor is my brother and friend, he has done well for Senegalese football and he can do better, we are waiting for them to win the Nationa’s cup.

“Jacques Anouma, he’s an excellent guy. I’ve always respected him and to me he should be in the all of fame, that’s it, at this point!

Ahmed Yahya, he’s an excellent guy, he’s a guy of the future. He’s somebody I love, we’re in the same committee, he knows.”

Surprisingly, Pinnick declared his interest in Patrice Motsepe because they share similar minds as businessmen.

He said: “Patrick’s my choice and my candidate, and the reason, I believe he can change this.”

“Because I’m a businessman and I know what that does for football. [You see] when you’re a businessman, you map out your strategy, you don’t think the way ordinary people think, because for you to be successful in certain endeavour, there are so many steps you go through,” he added.

Liverpool In Fifth Position Among The Top Five Earners

Liverpool have taken position as one of the top five clubs of the Deloitte Football Money League for the first time in 20 years

The Deloitte Football Money League rank clubs based on their financial performances in terms of revenue-generation within a season.

This year ranking is the performance of each club from the 2019-2020 season despite the disruption from Covid-19.

Barcelona top the list as the club with the highest revenue generated within the season.

La Liga holders, Real Madrid, is second on the chart, while Champions League winner, Bayern Munich, are third on the list.

Manchester United in fourth as the Premier League champions Liverpool is fifth in the chart.

Deloitte observed that the on the pitch success of Liverpool had pushed them up from seventh position in 2018-2019, to placing them in the top five for the first time since the 2001-2002 season.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, Tim Bridge, director of Deloitte Sports Business Group, said moving towards a “digital model” had helped Liverpool place fifth – on top of their Premier League success.

He added: “The on-pitch success is a massive factor. Building on winning the Champions League and then taking the Premier League crown for the first time has had a significant impact. They have moved significantly towards a more digital model, and have been doing for a number of years.

“That has benefited them in comparison to others during the pandemic, because they are able to engage with their fans in a way others probably had to pay catch-up.”

Manchester City are sixth on the list, with Tottenham,Premier League club, are ninth on the list.

Arsenal is ranked eleventh with Everton on seventeenth, ranking them among the top 20.

In summary, all the top 20 clubs saw a decline in revenue by 12 per cent compared to 2018-2019 as results of drop in broadcast and matchday revenues.

Bridge explained that the rankings may have been different if the timings of fixtures had worked out differently.

But with those placings, take a little bit of care because with the timings of the fixtures they were able to generate more revenue ahead of Manchester City.

Had timings been a little bit different, those rankings may have been different.” – said Bridge

On the revenue decline for Man Utd, Bridge stated that not playing in the Champions League has an impact on their revenue.

Bridge said: “The reason for the decrease is predominantly driven by the pandemic, as you can imagine Manchester United with a huge fan-base generate significant amounts of revenue every time they play at Old Trafford.

“They are going to be impacted in a more significant way than many other clubs. Of course, last year they didn’t have Champions League football either, so the revenue differential from competing in the Europa League compared to the Champions League had a significant impact on the numbers.

“But caution is needed. With Bayern Munich moving ahead of them, they were able to complete their domestic season in the time-frame, so the numbers for Bayern represent a full year of domestic football, whereas for United they are curtailed.

Adversely, Everton saw an increased revenue compared to other ranked clubs among the top 20, but Bridge explained that their long-term partnerships is the driving factor.

Bridge’s statement: “For anybody who has seen Everton’s plans around the new stadium, and the investment into the playing squad, they’ve got an ambitious owner who’s looking to take strides forward,”

“When a new owner comes in we talk about an investment cycle, and often it requires significant investment on the pitch in order to then drive future commercial revenues, and what Everton have been able to do is secure some long-term partnerships.

“A new shirt sponsorship with Cazoo and the deal with Hummel, but there is a significant deal within their commercial portfolio in respect of the future naming rights of their stadium with USM. That is the driving factor behind the commercial increase.”

Chelsea Sacked Frank Lampard Over Poor Form And Tuchel To Take Over

Frank Lampard has been sacked by Chelsea following their recent poor form and it’s set to be replaced by the former Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) manager, Thomas Tuchel.

Pressure started mounting on Lampard after his side lost 2-0 to Leicester City which meant the club had won just two games of their last eight Premier League games.

Chelsea over the weekend earned a respite with a 3-1 victory over Luton Town, a Championship club, in the FA Cup fourth round at the weekend, but it wasn’t enough to save his job as Roman Abramovich and the Chelsea board decided to part way with him.

A statement from the club read: “Chelsea Football Club have today parted company with Head Coach Frank Lampard.

This has been a very difficult decision, and not one that the owner and the Board have taken lightly.

“We are grateful to Frank for what he has achieved in his time as Head Coach of the Club. However, recent results and performances have not met the Club’s expectations, leaving the Club mid-table without any clear path to sustained improvement.

“There can never be a good time to part ways with a club legend such as Frank, but after lengthy deliberation and consideration it was decided a change is needed now to give the Club time to improve performances and results this season.”

The club owner Roman Abramovich stated: “This was a very difficult decision for the Club, not least because I have an excellent personal relationship with Frank and I have the utmost respect for him’.

“He is a man of great integrity and has the highest of work ethics. However, under current circumstances we believe it is best to change managers.”

“On behalf of everyone at the Club, the Board and personally, I would like to thank Frank for his work as Head Coach and wish him every success in the future. He is an important icon of this great club and his status here remains undiminished. He will always be warmly welcomed back at Stamford Bridge,” – he added.

Rumour has it that Lampard will be replaced by the just sacked PSG manager, Thomas Tuchel.

The choice of the 47-year-old German to take over from Lampard may not be connected with the recruitment of some German players like Timo Werner and Kai Havertz so as to bring the best out of them.

The news of Lampard sack may not be accepted by some Chelsea despite their recent woes, but the Board sees it as a way to save the club.

Lampard accepted the job as a return to the club where his career in football blossomed, and where he spent 13 years winning trophies and awards.

Last season, he led Chelsea to a fourth place finish in the Premier League, and as runners-up in the FA Cup.

Tuchel, if appointed, will become Chelsea’s fourth permanent manager since 2016, and will have the tasked of turning around the Blues’ poor form before the end of the season.

“All those mornings as a young kid in Australia, getting up to watch the Champions League games. The support back in the Thierry Henry and Dennis Bergkamp days, all these sorts of things, to now be here fills me with a great sense of pride and achievement,” – he added.

Ryan talked about his future at Arsenal: “I’m just looking to do the best that I can for the club and represent the club in the best possible way and ultimately help the club to achieve more success.”

The 28-year-old Australian international joined Albion in June 2017 shortly after the club were promoted to the Premier League.

He joined Albion for a then club-record fee from Valencia on a five-year deal in 2017, having spent the previous season on loan at Genk.

He was the club’s first choice for almost three and a half seasons, before being overtaken by Rob Sanchez in mid-December.

Head coach of Albion, Graham Potter, explained, “Mat has been a great servant to the club in the Premier League, and he has played no small part for the club at this level.

“We have incredible talent and competition at this club for just one position, and understandably, as Australia’s number one, Mat wants the chance of more regular opportunities.

“Mat is a pleasure to work with, a consummate professional and someone who works incredibly hard at his game. We wish him well at Arsenal and will be watching his progress there.

It’s Difficult For Me To Find Clothes That Fit Properly – Says 31-Year-Old Bodybuilder

An American woman who admits to her intense workout and diet regime in the hopes of achieving the world’s highest bodybuilding title, has revealed that her muscular body shape makes it difficult for her to find clothes that fit properly.

31-year-old, Brittany ‘Flex’ Watts, explained that not having a physique like other women makes it a struggle to purchase clothes.

“Due to the fact that I’m not built like your typical woman, fashion is kind of hard for my body type now. It’s a challenge,

“My style is very eclectic. I guess you could say sporty, sometimes it’s sexy, sometimes it’s tomboyish, sometimes it’s classy.” – Brittany said.

Brittany revealed that she often struggle to wear certain styles of shorts because of her bottom,

She said: “Because of my legs and my butt, the way these would sit on me all of my cheeks would be out.

“Here in Florida, that’s fine for some people, but mama Teresa would not be okay with all of that hanging out.

“I find it most difficult probably to shop for bottoms because my waist is so small. When I put clothes on I find that if it fits in my legs, it doesn’t fit in the waist.”

The IFBB women’s physique bodybuilder who finished 13th in the 2019 competition explained that achieving her muscular body shape requires training in the gym daily.

She added that in the week before Miss Olympia, she didn’t rest, she ate minimal food and avoided all carbohydrates.

She said: “The competition is super important, it’s like the super bowl of bodybuilding. So food is low and carbs are zero.

“You’re going to suffer alright, it’s not for the weak minded.”

“No gym. Still in prep, I think I had just started a prep when everything happened. I’m one of those types of people who is not fixing to quit.

“I’m not a quitter. I’ve never quit a show and I’ve never cancelled a show, so I kept going through the whole prep.”

Brittany has previously disclosed that she achieved her personal best of lifting 360lbs during the pandemic.

She explained that her boyfriend was fast to buy fitness equipment to set up a basic home gym.

“It’s like some dumbbells, a squat rack, pure basics. We didn’t have any full on machines. No hammer presses. Old school almost like jail training.

We’re up there Rocky. We live on the third floor, running our stairs and our neighbours are like ‘what are you guys doing out here? again twice today.” – she said

Brittany revealed that after her hard work, the competition she was supposed to enter to qualify for Miss Olympia was cancelled, and she had to drive to another city to compete.

Advising others, she said: “If you have a dream or a goal that you think even sounds interesting, pursue it. What’s the worst that can happen? That you fail, that you don’t do it – or you that you love it and it ends up great.

“Look at me, I literally looked in a magazine six years ago and was like I think I want to do it. I knew nothing about bodybuilding. Signed up did a show and did terrible.

“I came second to last place but even then I felt like a winner.

“I looked at these girls and what that they had accomplished and I was like this is achievable. This is not out of my league and here we are now.”

Federico Chiesa put Juventus ahead from a brilliant pass from Dybala in the 18th minute of the game.

Federico Chiesa scored the second goal at the 62nd minute while Weston McKennie made it three at the 76th minute.

Milan responded at the 41st minute from a brilliant finish from Davide Calabria to level the goals at 1-1 at half time.

The attacking pressure from Milan made Juventus goalkeeper, Wojciech Szczesny, to be in fine form and proving his worth.

With the win, Juventus have now won three of their last four Serie A matches this season.

Chiesa was substituted due to an injury and was replaced with McKennie, who scored Juventus’ third in the 76th minute after a jinking run through Milan’s defence by fellow substitute Dejan Kulusevski.
