CAS Restores Ahmad Ahmad As CAF President

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has reinstated the Madagascan, Ahmad Ahmad, as the president of the Confederation of African Football after a ruling by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

In November, FIFA announced the banning of Ahmad for five years from all football activities after being guilty of breaching several of its ethics codes.

Ahmad appealed the FIFA’s decision at CAS, which issued a preliminary ruling on Friday, 29th January, 2021.

With the ruling, Ahmad is still ineligible to contest in the CAF presidential elections to be held in March 2021.

CAS has made it known that the full hearing of the appeal will be on 2nd March, 2021, with a decision to be issued before the CAF presidential elections on 12th March, 2021.
