Lionsgate’s head of production, Erin Westerman, said: “We know Josh and Jennifer will make a compelling and sexy on-screen couple and they will be fun sparring partners as their dream destination wedding erupts into a memorable nightmare,”
“We are also thrilled to bring Jennifer and Sonia on to our cast as mothers of the bride and groom. Their acting and comedic talents will add another fun layer to this already-rich action-comedy.”
Armie Hammer had announcement last week that he was leaving the project in the wake of a social media controversy.
Hammer initially announced by the Lionsgate company to star in ‘Shotgun Wedding’ and be co-starred by but Jennifer Lopez, but just before the production will start, online allegations surfaced over the weekend that Hammer had sent disturbing messages to various women on Instagram who said they had been in sexual relationships with him. Though, the allegation is yet to b verified.
Hammer said in a statement: “I cannot in good conscience now leave my children for 4 months to shoot a film in the Dominican Republic.
“Lionsgate is supporting me in this and I’m grateful to them for that.”
A spokesperson for the production stated: “given the imminent start date of Shotgun Wedding, Armie has requested to step away from the film and we support him in his decision.”
The action comedy movie which will also feature stars like Jennifer Lopez, Jennifer Coolidge and Sonia Braga.
The film is directed by Jason Moore, and produced by Ryan Reynolds, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas and Benny Medina.
The movie is centered on Tom (Josh Duhamel) and his wife, Darcy (Jennifer Lopez), as they gather their loving but opinionated families for a picturesque destination wedding. Shortly after their arrival, however, the couple get cold feet and a dangerous hostage situation heats up the tension.
