Aminu Isa Kontagora, a prominent Nigerian and the the former Military Administrator of Kano and Benue States, is dead.

His death was reported on Sunday night after a brief illness at a hospital in Abuja.

One of the family members that made the announcement about his death said that he died of COVID-19 related complications.

Kontagora was born in 1956 and became the Military Administrator of Benue State, from August 1996 to August 1998 under General Sani Abacha military regime.

He was also the Military Administrator of Kano State from September 1998 to May 1999, during the transitional regime of General Abdulsalami Abubakar.

He handed over power to the then elected executive governor of Kano State, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, on 29th May 1999.

He would be buried today, Monday, 11th January, 2021 in compliance with the Islamic tradition.
