AKA’s Fiancee, Nelli Tembe, Laid To Rest

In South Africa, family, friends and fans were at the Durban International Conference Centre on Friday morning to pay tributes to the 22-year-old Anele “Nelli” Tembe, who died on Sunday.

Nelli died after falling from the 10th floor of the five-star Pepperclub Hotel in Cape Town on Sunday morning, she was AKA’s fiancee as they did their engagement in March.

Nelli’s body reportedly arrived in Durban on Wednesday ahead of the funeral, in company of AKA and other family members.

Attendance at the funeral service was limited to 100 people in observation of the Covid-19 safety protocols

Meanwhile at the funeral service, Nelli’s father, Mr Tembe, described his daughter as someone that was full of life.

Mr. Tembe, in reflecting on Anele’s life, said no one in his family would have imagined that she could take her own life.

He stated categorically that his daughter was never suicidal and did not commit suicide, but blamed the abuse of drugs and alcohol as the main cause of her death, and admonished the youths against substance abuse.

“As Anele’s father, I categorically state that Anele was neither suicidal nor did she commit suicide. We must as a matter of priority deal with the scourge that bedevils our youth. Alcohol which is overused and drugs. Fellow South Africans we better wake up and smell the coffee, we have a serious problem with substance abuse.”

Mr. Tembe, who sympathized with AKA and acknowledged his pain, advised him to surrender his life to Christ.

“I know the pain that you are in my son I invite you to turn to the Lord and you will become a better man,” said Anele’s dad.

The Nelli’s father stated that he knew of their relationship, which has been approved by his family and that he knew about AKA’s love for his daughter.

He said: “I knew of their relationship and approved and I knew that Kiernan loved my daughter.”
